Honeybee Preschool draws most strongly from The Reggio-Emilia Approach. The Reggio-Emilia Approach is named from the Italian city in which it was founded. It is impossible to replicate in its entirety, but we follow the same tenants. Children are seen as competent and capable beings. They are active participants in the creation of the classroom curriculum. We used project-based learning with topics derived from our observations of children’s play. Learning is made visible through documentation of conversations, art, and photos. There is a strong emphasis on the classroom environment.
